Automotive EDI - iCARaS Overview

iCARaS (pronounced EYE-care-iss) is the web-based or Internet version of our original automotive EDI and demand management application, known as CARaS (Computerized Automotive Release accounting System). iCARaS represents a significant advancement in our CARaS product. Significant enough to warrant a name change. iCARaS represents the state of the art in Supply Chain Management software and incorporates the sum and substance of Radley's many years of experience in this area of specialization. CARaS has evolved into a web-based product that you can depend on for all of your automotive EDI and release accounting needs.

CARaS was originally developed in the early 80's for automotive suppliers who needed an EDI solution to assist them in receiving and processing their electronic customer schedules. It was also decided that the EDI system should allow integration into a business system, so that EDI data didn't have to be re-keyed into their business application.

iCARaS : EDI & Much More

The requirements placed on suppliers by automotive, heavy truck, off-road manufacturers, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) necessitate an EDI solution that allows you to respond quickly and accurately to each customer’s demands and adjust to the ever changing scheduling demands of the “just-in-time” marketplace. iCARaS is a critical component of your enterprise management system. At Radley Corporation, we realize that speed and efficiency is paramount, and that no company can afford to be complacent. With iCARaS, you can meet your automotive EDI needs and reach your goals for efficiency and productivity.

EDI is Just the Beginning

Many automotive suppliers have implemented some type of basic EDI solution, usually because one or more large trading partner requires it. More companies are now searching for a solution that productively manages the data exchanged with their trading partners, while tracking priority information such as, “net demand”, “CUMs”, “quantities”, “label serial numbers”, and more. iCARaS combines the EDI mapping, communication, and translation functions of a traditional EDI solution with automotive release analysis, shipping, labeling and scanning, which can be configured specifically for your business.

Ongoing Trading Partner Compliance

The cost of maintaining compliance to your trading partner’s future requirements is always a consideration. As your OEM’s requirements change, Radley Corporation will provide the necessary updates as part of your maintenance agreement, which allows you to plan compliance into your budget.

iCARaS : The One Solution for all your OEM Requirements

iCARaS functionality surpasses standard EDI translator products to provide applications that address the specific processing requirements of over 200 trading partners across the automotive industry, as well as other industry groups that have adopted automotive industry practices. Many of these companies and their suppliers are iCARaS users.

• Passenger Vehicle OEMs such as: BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, GM, Honda, Nissan, Auto Alliance

• Tier-1 Suppliers such as: American Axle, Dana, Delphi, Eaton, Magna, Visteon

• Heavy Truck OEMs such as: Cummins Engine, Detroit Diesel, Freightliner, Mack Truck, Paccar, Thomas Bus

• Off-Road OEMs such as: Caterpillar, John Deere, J.I. Case, Komatsu Dresser, Mercury Marine

• Appliance OEMs such as: - Amana, Frigidare, Maytag, Whirlpool

Release Accounting/CUM Management

iCARaS Release Processing takes the guesswork out of calculating net demand for today, as well as tomorrow, next week, and next month. Your inbound daily and weekly schedules (X12 or EDIFACT) are interpreted, and trading partner CUMs (or quantities) and in-transit shipments are evaluated. Your standard pack quantities, in-transit times, daily/JIT schedules, and release ship codes are also used to calculate net demand and shipment dates to meet your trading partner’s schedules. Once processed, this demand information may be exported to the order management and forecasting modules of your ERP system.
